“The Rebound” Retreats: The Meaning Behind the Name

Definitions of Rebound:

To recover in value, amount, or strength after a decrease or decline.

-Oxford

To recover from setback.

- Merriam Webster

In a Yoga practice, the “Rebound” is the space between the poses;

We stop, pause, and wait a while, so the pose and all that it shifts, can be integrated within the body:

It’s not just effective rest time, it’s incredibly productive rest time.

The Art of Rest

This 4-night retreat is a unique opportunity to prioritise your very own personal ‘rebound’ from your life: think relaxation and integration in equal measure as you practise the art of rest, and experience yoga as a deeply therapeutic practice.

This is your opportunity to take essential and nourishing time for yourself. Unscheduled time holds all the potential for new connections within, meaningful connections with others, a visit to the local town and/or vineyards, and some precious time for you to be with you: When there is free time marked on the schedule, your time is your own. Participation in yoga classes and extra yoga-related offerings is also entirely optional.

To ensure optimum personally-tailored care, also included are two one-to-one sessions with Grace: a Pre-Retreat Connection Call, and a Post-Retreat Integration session. This deep holding will provide you with exceptional support in your process of embodying all that is uncovered during “The Rebound”.

In a world where your day-to-day involves juggling many roles and duties, “The Rebound” is your soul connection pause; to come home to all of who you are, to nurture your heart with the same devotion you demonstrate for others, and to re-establish wise boundaries so that your own needs and longings find their rightful place. “The Rebound” may just mark the beginning of a new chapter in your relationship with yourself.

This luxurious and therapeutic retreat is for those who dare to stop a while, look within, feel the here & now, and experience the integration that results from coming home to your body during the 8 yoga experiences during the retreat. But your integration doesn’t stop when the retreat ends, and neither does our support. We want to help you manage the rebound from “The Rebound” with our tailored after-care and support.

Upon your return home, you are invited to continue your yoga practice within ISFYT’s online yoga membership, The Integration Space. Included in your retreat investment is a month’s unlimited membership, so that you can continue to join Grace online (live and pre-recorded options) as your self-care practice. Your included post-retreat integration session is the perfect opportunity to reconnect on a 1:1 level with Grace, and find the support you need.

For those seeking more extensive integration support, our optional add-on Embodiment Container extends to six months access to The Integration Space and five 1:1 integration sessions with Grace.

When time is of the essence, and burnout feels like it might be too close for comfort, we must wisely choose the retreat that contains the most effective practices to facilitate the most deeply productive rest. “The Rebound” is the transformative encounter that redefines the territory of wellbeing retreats; by extending individually-tailored care and support far beyond the duration of the retreat itself.

Are you ready to experience it for yourself?

About this Retreat

You know you should rest…
But you want it to be productive & impactful rest

Who is this for?

This retreat is for you if:

  • You feel a little tired and weary (or a lot tired and weary!)

  • You want a holiday, a break, a rest, but the more typical options don’t appeal to you. You want something different…

  • You really appreciate that the retreat includes at least 2 one-to-one sessions for each guest so that your retreat time can be tailored to meet you exactly where you are, and support your integration process upon your return home.

Core Elements

The key focus points of this retreat are:

  1. The Art of Rest - You will be held and guided in a gentle way, with awareness that rest does not necessarily come easy, and must be learned and practised as any new skill

  2. Yin & Yang - Balancing yang energy (the “doing” energy, in simplest terms - the yoga of movement) with yin energy (the “being” energy - the yoga of stillness)

  3. Nervous System Regulation - We learn the mind-directed and inner feeling tools to bring the body into a regulated state, through somatic practices and guided self-inquiry

  4. Luxury Holiday Vibe - Pool swimming, poolside reading, walks in nature, wine-tasting, local village wandering, some sky-gazing… and as much, or as little, of it all as you like

Understanding Yin & Yang Yoga

Balancing Your “Being” and “Doing” Energies

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga invites you into a shape, asks you to hold it for 3-10 minutes, and reveals your capacity to be at your physical edge of discomfort in stillness.

In between each yin pose comes the rebound, the inspiration behind this retreat. The rebound cannot be separated from yin yoga, and rest cannot be separated from the art of living.

The practice is not easy, but it is incredibly effective and it greatly rewards the time you invest. The insights you gain about your relationship to discomfort can help you forge a healthier relationship to yourself and others. Quite simply, yin is very in :-)

What is Yang Yoga?

Yang Yoga refers to movement and physical strength based styles of yoga such as hatha or vinyasa flow. It also refers to intention-based energy cultivation practices such as Qi Gong.

These can include, but are not restricted to, Sun Salutations, set sequences which you practise in a certain order such as Bikram Yoga’s 26&2 or the Ashtanga Primary Series.

We practise yang styles of yoga to move energy in the body, to enhance our mobility and strength, and to build concentration and determination, and connect to our creative fire. We practise yang yoga so we can harness our inner power, to make changes based on the insights unveiled in the yin yoga container.

About Your Retreat Host, Teacher and Guide

Grace Tempany is a Senior Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals, a Trainer Pro, Mentor and Coach, specialised in yin yoga, functional yoga, and trauma-informed somatic practices. As a trainee psychotherapist, her lens is inherently person-centred, and always rooted in the individual experience in the body. As a former secondary school teacher, the art of teaching has been her bedrock.

Grace’s teaching is built on the firmest inclusive foundations. Since she first started teaching yoga, she has dedicated her practice and research to providing the most accessible space for everybody to practise being in their bodies, and learn to gain a deeper connection with themselves, their truth, their voice and their own unique and personal journey.

She marries pedagogical expertise, lived and felt experience as knowledge, and the most up-to-date research from the yoga, education, and therapy worlds.

She wanted to create her own school because she is absolutely committed to providing a deeper and more well-rounded yoga education. She knows that deep thinkers and old souls looking for retreats are yearning for more depth and integration opportunities without compromising on their luxury holiday vibe.

In 2023 ISFYT: The International School of Functional Yoga Teachers was born: a response to many soul whispers over many years. Grace’s biggest wish is that it will be a most welcoming home for all those within the yoga world who feel they have yet to find theirs.
