The Core Pillars of ISFYT
The What?
Yoga = Body
The How?
Education: Body-Mind
The Who & The Why?
Therapy: Body-Mind-Soul
ISFYT Approach
Yoga
The body, its practices, and the knowledge the body contains.
Yoga speaks to the body and the body of knowledge contained within it: the physical asana practices, subtle body energy work, pranayama, and nervous system regulation.
Yoga speaks to the body as our access point for present-moment connection, for the body is always. here. now.
Yoga as a pillar within ISFYT is what we experience: the practices, the material, the content - so to speak, the knowledge.
Yoga = what we do.
Education
The skills involved in connecting with the body, and the knowledge it contains.
Education speaks to teaching methodologies, wise use of the mind, the art of asking good questions, self-inquiry, and eliciting answers from within our students.
Education speaks to wise usage of the mind - of course we must learn not to identify with it, but that is not to say we don’t need to use it.
Education as a pillar within ISFYT is a deepening of the skills to connect & engage with what we experience.
Education = how we do what we do.
Therapy
The process of self-awareness and soul growth that can result.
Therapy speaks to integration for transformation: our capacity to turn our face towards, and remain with, the body & the experience we are having right now.
Therapy speaks to the often challenging somatic reality of integration, and the true healing that emerges from feeling into that reality and deciphering the message within the mess.
Therapy as a pillar within ISFYT adds soul to seeming cold bareness of the functional approach. When the therapy pillar is missing, there’s no alchemy, no transformation, no true embodied learning. Therapy as a pillar brings integration, personal growth, soul connection, and the utmost clarity of purpose.
Therapy = The results of how we do what we do.
