The Art of Yang

Functional Yoga as Therapy 200hr YTT

Functional Yoga as Therapy is the very first 200hr functional yoga teacher training to devote equal importance to stillness (yin) and movement (yang).

This is a leading-edge offering by Grace Tempany, Founder & Director of ISFYT, bridging the worlds of yoga, education and therapy.

Yang yoga (26 & 2 hatha & more, functional sun salutations, Paul Grilley’s functional yang flows, myofascial release), functional teaching skills, yin yoga, shadow explorations, somatic self-inquiry, all underpinned by the soundest pedagogical, trauma-informed, and integration-focused foundations.

This teacher training journey will empower you to bring greater awareness to your practice, more insight to your own personal development journey, and infinite depths to your teaching.

“Teach what is appropriate for each individual.”

-Krishnamacharya

“We don’t use the body to get into a pose. We use the pose to get into the body.”

-Bernie Clark

The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see.

“... to be human
is to become visible
while carrying
what is hidden
as a gift to others...”

David Whyte

Are you drawn to yoga first and foremost for its healing and self-awareness qualities? Has yoga always been a kind of gateway to your soul? Do you want your practice and teaching to be as person-centred as possible? Do you love yin, but know your yang (hatha, vinyasa, power, hot?) practices need the functional underpinnings too? And is the art of teaching both what you desire to master through this experience?

Are you more truthspeaker than lightseeker, more integration over elevation, less ‘talking about how amazing yoga can be’, and more ‘embodying yoga as therapy through the depth of your presence, and the standard of your teaching skills’.

You are so very welcome! If the above appeals, we would love for you to join us in the Tuscan hills next summer for the perfect “Eat Pray Love” immersion yoga teacher training experience. The nourishment here is the beautiful but transformative kind, and you might just make the best connections and friends for life. It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, that promises integration at the core. You’ll probably never be the same again, and yet you might leave feeling as closely connected to who you truly are.

Will you join us in Tuscany for the journey of a lifetime?

Accommodation

One of the many attractive features of The Transmission School is its number of bedrooms, and the variety of set-up they can accommodate.

We understand the importance of alone time, especially when learning, unlearning, and self-inquiry are part of the experience.

There are twin and triple sharing options for those who wish to share with friends, or enjoy the experience of having a roommate, but we are thrilled to be able to accommodate all those who want their own room.

En-suite bathroom facilities are not available, but bathrooms are plentiful, spacious, and spotless - I checked! :-)

Those I teach, mentor and guide, are on a path to uncovering their own inner teacher. My work is to help yoga practitioners and instructors develop a more embodied connection to their bodies and minds, and to reinstate compassion, self-inquiry, and critical thinking, as the heart and core integrity of each teacher’s personal and professional development.
